Bills Would Crack Down on Dangerous and Costly Auto Insurance Fraud and Strengthen Penalties for Reckless Driving


        The New York State Senate today passed four measures to keep New York’s roadways safe. The bills create tougher crimes to deter criminals who seek to commit automobile fraud by staging car accidents, allow auto insurers to cancel fraudulent polices, close a dangerous loophole that allows drunk drivers to avoid prosecution for leaving the scene of an accident, and enforce tougher penalties for those who drive without a license.
